Start A Collection

By Lisa Lambson A couple of years ago, I was just at the point of exploding. I had been taking care of everyone but me, and one Saturday afternoon when I couldnt take it anymore, I laid the kids down for naps and woke my husband up from his, and told him I would be back in a couple of hours and asked him to keep the laundry going if you wanted clothes to wear to work on Monday. I jumped in the car and off I went. I got about two blocks before I pulled over and turned off the car. I looked at myself in the rearview mirror and said, Where are you going? I had no idea what I wanted to do. I hadnt done anything just for pleasure in so long, I couldnt remember what I really enjoyed. As I sat there thinking, I remembered all the time my mother spent cleaning and rearranging her antique dishes collection. She loved those dishes, and whenever she needed her space you would find her with them or out scouring for more. I started my car and headed for the nearest flea market. As I was driving, I thought about different things that I might like to collect. Now, just a couple of years later, I have quite a few collections of my own, including antique dishes, and I have my own peace and happiness from something I created just for me. Choosing What You Want To Collect To begin your collection, thing about some of the things that interest you. Decide if you want to collect items just for the enjoyment of collecting or if you would be more interested in collecting items that may become valuable investments. For example, if you are doing it strictly for your enjoyment, you may think about a specific animal you like. I have a very large cow collection taking over my kitchen. My sister redecorated a room in her house in the trendy fruit motifs, and she now has quite a collection of fruit dcor items. Other ideas are teapots, hats, movie memorabilia, buttons, pens, angels, fairies, t-shirts, or candles. Anything that captures your fancy can get you started. My husband has a matchbook collection that he takes great enjoyment from. He just gets a kick out of unusual matchbooks from different locations. If you would prefer something that will increase in value, you may be more inclined to collect items such as antique dishes, comic books, Disney memorabilia, stamps, coins, or any of the collectible lines that are available today, for example, Boyds Bears, Precious Moments, SnowBabies or Dea Capodimonte of Naples, Italy. Chasing Down Great Deals Once you have decided what to collect, the joy of the hunt begins. My favorite places to go for my treasures are always the places where I can find the ultimate deals. Yard sales, flea markets, consignment shops and thrift stores are always my first stops. It is amazing what wonderful things you can find for next to nothing. In recent years, collectors have had the joy of a whole new market opening up to them via the Internet. With the Internet, you have access to the entire world rather than just your local area. Online auctions are an incredible resource for finding items to add to your collection and getting some great deals. Researching Your Collectibles There are quite a few good collectibles shows on television, such as Flea Market Finds on HGTV, The Incurable Collector on A&E, and of course, The Antiques Roadshow. If your hobby becomes a passion, you will want to invest in a good price guide. There are specialized guides for specific items and general guides that cover a wide range of objects. It is important to look for a guide that gives you product background, company information and a history of the item. I always look for the price guides that provide detailed pictures and information about markings, number produced and year of production. Also, make sure to buy the most current guide available. Browse some guides at your local library first, to get a feel for what youre looking for before you choose which one to buy. Lisa Lambson is a married, mother of four that recently left the workforce to freelance. “I made this choice to show my children that there are ways to support your family independently and maintain your family presence the way that you choose. I want my children to understand that they do not have to be caught in a job they don’t like waiting to be downsized. I choose to use my passion for writing to teach them to never give up on their passions.” Lisa has been published in print in a magazine named Balance that, unfortunately, is no longer published and in a newspaper for work at home moms called Connecting At Home. She also has numerous articles published and circulating on the internet on hundreds of websites. She can write about any topic and there is nothing she loves more than to learn something new or meet someone new to get to know. Her work stands for itself as she works carefully, quickly and pays great attention to detail. http://216.147.57.116/index.shtml Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Lisa_Lambson http://EzineArticles.com/?Start-A-Collection&id=196546 fast cash payday loan 1 day cash advance for bad credit personal loan interest de minimis money to loan in colorado

College or Work after High School? Tell Me Please!

By Tony Jacowski One of the toughest career decisions for high school students and their parents is whether to get a job and settle down in that for the rest of their lives or to continue their studies in college. Three to five decades up the line, this would not have been a question at all that would make you lose sleep. The post World War II era saw many industries flourish and needing workers to “man” their businesses. That was when they took high school graduates and trained them for routine jobs, mostly on factory floors. The Present Scenario: Will It Support High School Graduates? The rise of technological advances, fast paced work styles catering to newfound lifestyles and the latest buzzword globalization in the last two decades has changed the present job market scenario entirely. High school children of WW II veterans who got easy jobs were trained by their employers for specific jobs. This is obviously is a far cry from the situation today. Time, competition and budgets do not permit such on job training any more. Employers and new age industry captains are looking for college graduates for specialized jobs. For example: jobs like healthcare workers and software engineers can only be taken by those who are college trained because of their specific courses. It could unfortunately be harsh on those can not afford an extra 3-4 years of college. But in reality, high school graduates are more and more relegated to low end physical or routine non-challenging mundane jobs where entry-level salaries and growth opportunities are far from being lucrative. But A College Degree Is Expensive and It Is Another 4 Years! A recent survey suggested that the average employee changes jobs about 7 times in his or her career. The apparent reason is growing opportunities for trained and educated employees. But if you took a deeper look, employers are not in any position to wait for employees to train on the job. They seek candidates with pre-developed skills that match the job requirements, resulting in a soaring demand for college graduates. It is obvious that education opens new vistas of faster and better growth. Education loans from the Federal Government or private banks can help open your first job account with almost double the paycheck. College graduates have a better scalability factor in their careers than others. A $40,000 loan for a 4-year college degree can be easily paid back in 10 years including the 5% interest. The fact that the 4 years you spend in college plus the $40,000 can be made good in the next 3-4 years easily should stand as unbeatable testimony in favor of college education. The United States Census states that college graduates, in their career, will earn $2.1 million against $1.2 million for high school grads. Unless there is some thing else that you know, all indicators point in favor of college. Higher raises, promotions, and postgraduate education- flights of progress- all require just one platform, and that is college graduation. Tony Jacowski is a quality analyst for The MBA Journal. 7 Easy Steps To Weight Loss

By J Harrod Is one of your New Year’s resolutions to lose weight? To finally start to feel good about yourself and look good? You aren’t alone, as millions of Americans are looking for that ‘perfect weight loss program’. Here are a 7 steps you can start today and see results very quickly. No fads, just facts maam :o ) Current statistics reveal that 75% of Americans are overweight and 40% are obese. For those who desire to lose weight and obtain optimal health, sometimes it can be overwhelming trying to figure out where to start. From the Atkins Diet to the South Beach Diet; from the low fat to low carb diets, there are numerous weight-loss plans to choose from. In addition, given conflicting information as to what works best, it can be difficult deciding what to do. For those who have tried many diet plans with no success, it becomes more difficult and frustrating. Many people forget that a diet might work wonders for their friend but won’t work well for them…not because the diet is “bad”, but because each body reacts differently. However, there is a way to lose weight that is easy, fast, and doesn’t involve deprivation or calorie counting. Before the weight loss tips are discussed, it’s important to address some background information about body genetics and why weight loss can be difficult. Before anyone starts a diet, it is important to note that each person has a different body build. Some people are short and stout while others are tall and thin. Some have big hips and shoulders, and others are short and very muscular. Genetics can determine body shape and a person’s natural build just as it does eye color, hair color, skin color, and so on. The good news is that genetics do not determine whether or not one will be fat, but will determine one’s body shape. This means that not every woman can expect to be tall and thin like a Hollywood actress or supermodel such as Tyra Banks. Not every man can expect to be defined and muscular like The Rock. The goal, really, is to be at a comfortable weight for one’s body shape and to feel good about it. So, why are people overweight? Here are 11 of the most common reasons: 1. Slow metabolism: People who are overweight have a hard time burning off food. As a result, the fat is stored. 2. Emotional eating: Those who struggle with weight often eat when stressed or when other emotional upheavals are happening in their life. 3. Hormonal imbalances. 4. Eating portions that are too large. 5. Eating lots of “diet food” (that is low fat,low carb, and “sugar free” foods). 6. Build up of toxins in the body. 7. Eating late: Late-night eating can cause food to convert to fat more easily. 8. High susceptibility to growth hormones: These hormones are given to animals to help them grow faster and larger, so meat and dairy have residual growth hormones. In humans, these hormones can result in increased fat storage. 9. Not eating breakfast. 10. Numerous diets: Going from diet to diet has a negative impact on the metabolism and causes weight loss to be much more difficult. 11. Food ingredients: The reasons why are amazing and beyond the scope of this article. Simple Tips for Easy Weight Loss: Now that there is a better understanding of body genetics and why people have a tendency to be overweight, here are the tips for fast, easy weight loss. Tip #1: Drink water upon arising: First thing in the morning, drink eight ounces of distilled water, bottled water, or filtered water (not tap water). Tip #2: Eat a big breakfast: This should be done 45 minutes after getting up in the morning. Suggested organic foods to choose from (they must be organic) are apples, bananas, rye bread with no sugar, plain yogurt, tuna, lamb, tomatoes, carrots, peppers, raw honey, wild smoked salmon, and so on. Tip #3: Drink distilled water throughout the day: Eight glasses is recommended Tip #4: Walk non-stop one hour each day: This doesn’t have to be power walking; just walk at your own pace. Walking outdoors is best. Tip #5: Stop eating after 6:00 PM: This is hard for some people, but do the best you can. Tip #6: Do a candida cleanse: Candida is yeast overgrowth in the colon that can cause all kinds of health problems. Check online for “Candida Cleanse” or go to your local health food store. Tip #7: Do a colon cleanse: This cleanse cleans out the digestive system, which is clogged and sluggish in many overweight people. Once again, check online or go to your local health food store. More and more Americans are becoming overweight. Extra weight can result in many health issues and negatively impact one’s emotional state and self-esteem. However, for those struggling with this problem, there is hope. You can lose it and keep it off. Now that you have a understanding of body genetics and why you might be overweight, take action today! Commit to trying at least a few of the steps. ———————— Dan Farrell is the owner of http://www.healthyweightlossplus.com with more weight loss articles and tips. Is Gastric Bypass Right for You?

By Dakota Caudilla Gastric bypass is a form of weight-loss surgery done on a lot of Americans today. The reason is because more and more Americans are suffering from obesity and excessive weight problems. In some cases, a gastric bypass is the only way to make losing weight possible. For most of us, gastric bypass is merely an option. The American Society for Bariatric Surgery reports that there were more than 63,000 of such surgeries being done in the United States alone in the year 2002. However, it is important to note that a Gastric Bypass is not the right surgery for everyone. Think carefully because a gastric bypass is a very important surgery. It is not the magical solution to your weight problems and you will need to do extensive research before you commit to it. We have to emphasize that Gastric Bypass has a very high rate of complications although the procedure may sound relatively simple and effortless. Most doctors who perform gastric bypass would advise the patient to undergo a low-calorie diet for at least 6 months before they go for gastric bypass surgery. Undergoing a gastric bypass surgery, you may have to bear with the consequence of a possible life-threatening complication as a result of the gastric bypass surgery. Your doctor would be in the best position to advice you on whether youre right for gastric bypass. Emotional and physical issues may have to be taken into account because this is essential to your recovery after the gastric bypass surgery. However, because of the many possible dangers of undergoing a gastric bypass surgery, the Bariatrics Society designed and launched a program called the mini gastric bypass surgery. The mini gastric bypass surgeries are the less extensive versions of the more commonly used gastric bypass surgery. The mini gastric bypass surgery actually reconfigures the stomach so that absorption of food is reduced irregardless of how much food that person consumed. A mini gastric bypass surgery also changes the way food is absorbed. The mini gastric bypass surgery takes a shorter time to perform and the recovery for the patient is quicker too. However, there arent that many researches and studies done on mini gastric bypass surgeries as opposed to a major gastric bypass surgeries, therefore, many insurance companies cover the major gastric bypass surgery but not the mini gastric bypass surgery! Marketing for the Amateur

By Phil Grisolia Not everyone is a marketing guru. Even some who claim to be. But thats another story for another time. The goal here is to provide some basic help for the growing number of small business owners many with start-up ventures who have to market their own products and services The first question Im usually asked in seminars and workshops even by some of the business owners I coach is, How much should I be spending for advertising? My answers always the same, Zero! Why? Because advertising dollars should be an investment, not something you spend. Advertising should bring in more dollars than the price of the efforts many more dollars. Notice how we switched from marketing to advertising? Thats because many business owners believe the two are the same. Theyre not. Marketing includes advertising plus other activities sales promotion, public relations, plus research and development. The latter to learn what would-be customers want, what your competitions doing, plus how to improve what you sell. OK, so how much should you invest in marketing? For every $100 you plan to take in were talking sales, not profits your minimum marketing investment should be between $7 and $10. For a new business, that range should be $11 to $15 because you have to introduce your business plus what your selling. If your written business plan yes, you need one forecasts $200,000 in sales for the year, set aside at least $22,000 for marketing, even up to $30,000. Id use the high end figure because you cant run a newspaper ad, for example, unless someone creates itwrites the words, lays out how the ad will look, photographs or draws the items to appear in it. Oh, and please dont buy into the idea that your newspaper, magazine or phone directory will create the ad youll run with them. Their business is selling advertising space, not creating effective ads that deliver customers ready to part with their money. And radio guys? They sell time spots on their station. They dont create great spots. Web designers? Their name says they design. Dont expect them to write content that works. Unless you know a great deal about marketing, find yourself a marketing firm or other professional you feel comfortable working with. But keep in mind their fees also come out of you marketing budget, so invest your marketing dollars wisely. 2006, Philip A. Easy Process for Creating Great Copy

By Jenn Givler The absolute key to writing copy is that it must help you make a connection with your customers. If you are not connecting with your customers and potential customers, your copy writing will not work. You must show, through your copywriting that you understand your customers needs and that you can help solve their problems. Whenever you create a marketing message, it should always be written as if youre speaking to your customer. It should also be customer centered. Write as if youre having a conversation with your potential customers. I want to share the process that I use when I write marketing messages. This process is simple, and it will help you keep everything in your customers perspective. Its also a way for you to get in a marketing frame of mind when you set out to write a new message. 1. I start out by thinking about the problem as it might exist in my clients mind. If your intimately connected to your niche, you will know exactly what their needs are as they relate to your business. 2. Think about what youre clients or customers might have already tried. Have they tried other programs, other products, or other services? 3. Discover why these previous solutions havent worked. Maybe other products fall short. Maybe other programs or services your clients have tried have been lacking something. Check out other businesses in your industry and see what they dont offer that you do. 4. Think about what you offer and how its different than the other solutions. Here is where your USP (unique selling position) is going to come in handy. Your unique selling position is a statement that you make about your business that sets you apart from your competitors. It describes to your customers why your business is different. You can use your USP in its pure form, or you can lengthen it, or shorten it as necessary. 5. Always remember who you are and what expertise you bring to the table. You are an expert in your field. No matter what. You are immersed in your business on a daily basis. Your clients and customers can trust that expertise and you should fully rely on that when promoting your products and services. 6. Have a call to action. Tell your clients what to do to purchase from you. You may think that you dont need to tell people what to do in this regard it should be a no-brainer. But, remember a confused mind always says no. If youve developed this great marketing message and you get to the end and customers arent sure how to purchase from you, what do you think theyll do? They may click off your page and never come back. Or, they may put your brochure down and never pick it up again. Tell them how to get this amazing product you just told them about. Always write to your customers needs. Its always about them. Your marketing messages should always focus on your customers issues, and how your services or products will benefit them. The 5 Secrets You Must Uncover to Pay Off Your Mortgage in the Shortest Possible Time

By Rob Sallay Youve been making monthly mortgage payments for so long that the checks almost write themselves. But have you become financially complacent, failing to consider ways to decrease your payments or overall debt? Here are 5 secrets to paying off your mortgage in the shortest possible time. 1. Get a Mortgage Tune-Up You take your car to your mechanic several times a year to keep it in optimum running condition. The same principle applies to your mortgage, according to Ron Chicaferro, president of Thornburg Mortgage Home Loans, based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Homeowners really need to do a mortgage tune-up at least once a quarter, he says. To be a savvy homeowner today means more than just locking in a low-interest rate. Borrowers need to know if theyre paying too much for security they dont need and if their lender is charging them unnecessary fees. When it comes to saving money, it pays to know when its right to refinance and to ask lenders about innovative mortgage products that can reduce monthly payments. There’s nothing like a mortgage tune-up to save homeowners cash. 2. Pull the Switch As interest rates rise, homeowners with adjustable-rate mortgages (ARMs)which have become increasingly popular among consumers who want to keep monthly payments lowmay want to consider switching to a fixed-rate mortgage. The gap between long- and short-term rates has narrowed, making even hybrid ARMswhich are fixed for an initial periodnot as good a deal as they used to be, says Valerie Patterson, senior editor of RealEstateJournal.com. Now is a good time for homeowners with adjustable rates to consider refinancing with a fixed-rate mortgage. Of course, a great deal depends on how long you plan to remain in your home, as well as the cost of refinancing, Patterson notes. 3. Trouble in Paradise? Money problems and debt are key contributors to todays high divorce rate, and most families take a financial hit after a couple parts company. As the lawyers jockey for position, a critical question emerges: Who gets the house? (And the mortgage payments) If you own a home, the mortgage is likely your most significant monthly payment, says Brad Stroh, co-CEO of the San Mateo, California-based Freedom Financial Network, LLC, a company that specializes in debt resolution services. Be certain you understand how youll resolve monthly mortgage payments and how youll divide the homes valuewhether one partner buys out the other now or the home is to be sold after children are grown. 4. The Early Bird Catches the Penalty If you receive a sudden windfall and decide to pay off your entire mortgage earlier than planned, make sure there is no penalty for doing so. You always want to secure a mortgage that specifies there will be no penalty for paying it off early, but if you happened to miss this clause in the contractsomething youll definitely want to avoid in the futurethink twice before writing a check. Speak with a certified financial plannersomeone with nothing to gain from whatever decision you maketo determine the best way to handle this situation. 5. When the Unexpected Happens If you suddenly lose your job or suffer an illness that will create a temporary hardship, it may be difficult to keep up with mortgage payments. Protect your investmentand prevent foreclosureby working out a forbearance agreement with your lender. A forbearance agreement allows for a temporary change, such as loweringor, in some cases, eliminatingyour payments for a specified period of time, says Andrew Housser, Strohs partner and co-CEO. In order to agree to this, your lender must be convinced that your hardship is temporary and that you will be able to get back on track in the future. Otherwise, they may view forbearance as merely delaying the inevitable. Other options, according to Housser, are: A loan modification, which serves as a permanent change in terms. A deed in lieu, which lets you offer the deed to your home to prevent foreclosure. Sale of your home. Refinancing your mortgage for a lower interest rate or monthly payment. Dont make the mistake that will cost you your home: saying nothing and defaulting on payments. —- Mortgage Relief specializes in assisting Australian families with mortgages by making their monthly repayments more manageable and decreasing their overall debt and total interest paid over the life of their mortgage. Comparing Payday Loans

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Mark_Tamwood]Mark Tamwood So youve been hit with an unexpected expense and youre in between pay days and you dont have enough in your savings or your credit cardsbasically, youre in a financial bind. What do you do? One option is to consider a payday loan, which basically loans you the amount you need (typically between $100 and $500) for a one- to two-week period (until your next pay day) for a fee, such as $15 for a $100 loan. Its quick-fix, short-term solutionand its fast and simple with no credit checks. Basically all you need to apply and get approved is a job and a bank accountand youre good to go. But where can you get a payday loan? There are many cash advance stores scattered throughout most major cities, and you can also apply over the phone and online. Because the payday loan industry and market is proliferatingespecially on the weband there are now more cash advance options than ever before, the trick to getting the right payday loan for you and your situation is to do your research ahead of time. You need to make a comparison of various payday loan lenders and cash advance placeswhether youre looking for local or online lenders, or bothbefore you decide if youre going to borrow money in this way, and also where youre going to borrow money. This way you can find the lowest rates and best terms for a payday loan that will suit your needs. There are several different things you need to consider when researching and comparing payday loan and cash advance lenders. First of all, youll need to compare interest rates between lenders. Even though these types of loans are very short (generally two weeks without rollover), they are required by law to post their APR. Secondly, check out their fees in addition to their interest rates. Fees can include a flat financing charge or a processing fee. In addition, payday loan lenders have different terms for repayment. Even though the goal is for you to pay back the full amount upon your next pay day, sometimes consumers need to extend the loan for a longer period, and you need to find out each lenders repayment terms as well as additional fees. Further, you may want to consider the customer service available with each cash advance placeif they have easy-to-find contact information, if you can get through to them, if your questions are answered and generally if you the get quality customer service you deserve. Finally, you may also wish to double-check the application process. A good payday loan lender should be able to process your application quickly and smoothly with no credit check. As well, the only information you should have to provide is your contact, employment and banking information. You should also make sure you can expect an automatic deposit in your account within 24 hours. Payday loans are not always right for everyone in every type of financial situation, but they are worthwhile considering. If you do decide a payday loan is for you, its important to do some thorough research, investigation and comparison first to find the right payday loan for you, before you jump head first into something that you dont know enough about to make an educated and informed decision.
